The Pulse Diagnostic
An initial examination of racialised harm within your organisation.
The Pulse Diagnostic provides a focused way to identify emerging patterns of racialised harm through the confidential experiences of staff.
Through a structured process, staff accounts are anonymised and analysed against The Esther Practice's pattern library to identify recurring dynamics, potential gaps between leadership perceptions and staff experiences, and areas that may require further investigation.
The outcome is a concise Pattern Summary identifying what has emerged from the evidence and recommending appropriate next steps.
The Pulse can be commissioned as a standalone diagnostic. It does not require an organisation to proceed to a more extensive investigation.
How The Pulse Diagnostic Works
1. Initial enquiry and scoping
Following an initial enquiry, the organisation receives information explaining The Esther Practice's approach, followed by an organisational intake and scoping conversation to establish the context and agree the focus of the engagement.
2. Gathering staff experiences
Staff are invited to share their experiences through a structured, confidential process designed to identify recurring dynamics rather than examine isolated incidents alone.
3. Pattern analysis
Accounts are anonymised and analysed against The Esther Practice's pattern library to identify emerging patterns of racialised harm, areas of convergence and differences between organisational understanding and staff experiences.
4. The Pattern Summary
The organisation receives a concise, two-to-three-page Pattern Summary setting out the patterns identified, the strength of the available evidence and recommendations for appropriate next steps.
The Pattern Summary is delivered within two weeks of the engagement closing.
What You Receive
A Pattern Summary
A concise, two-to-three-page report presenting the findings of The Pulse Diagnostic.
The summary sets out:
Patterns identified: Recurring dynamics of racialised harm emerging from staff accounts.
Evidence strength: The frequency and strength of the patterns identified within the available evidence.
Areas requiring attention: Where organisational understanding and staff experiences may differ, and where further examination may be warranted.
Recommended next steps: A clear assessment of what the findings suggest and how the organisation might respond.
Delivery: Within two weeks of the engagement closing.
The Pulse Diagnostic is a standalone service. Commissioning it does not create an obligation to proceed to The Gap Diagnostic.
